Modem Tips & Recommendations

Check List Explanation
Check your modem complies with ITU-T Recommendations V.90 or V.34 (28.8, 33.6kbit/s). Even new modems may require a software upgrade to V.90 or V.34. The V.34 recommendation replaced V.fast and V.90 replaced K56Flex and x2. Modems manufactured before the V.34 and V.90 recommendations were set, may require a software upgrade to achieve maximum line speeds. Contact your modem supplier or ISP, or check the modem manufacturer’s Internet site.
Consider replacing older modems. Older modems compliant with ITU-T Recommendations like V.22bis, V32 and V.32bis, may cause call drop-outs from failed initialisation/connect attempts.
Newer V.34 and V.90 modems use pre-emphasis to improve performance. Newer V.34 and V.90 modems, with line speeds up to 28.8, 33.6, and 52kbit/s, use pre-emphasis to compensate for the effect of distance from your Customer Access Module*. These modems may provide more reliable connection, higher line speeds, lower error rates and higher throughput speeds.
